Farewell 2020

Bit late in posting my final reflections on the latter half of 2020, but here goes anyway!

I think in the early days we all hoped that we’d see the back of this virus by the summer, but it wasn’t to be. Restrictions were eased a bit, but by the end of the summer we realised it wasn’t going away and we’d just have to get used to the new normal!

Thankfully, there is now some light ahead for 2021.

July 2020 – Vinegar Hill Loop, 7 miles
In July we ventured further afield into the Sperrins for a gentle looped walk.

August 2020 – Gortmore, 5 miles
A poor forecast forced us to rethink our September walk, so we stayed local again and headed to Gortmore viewing point.

September 2020 – Robber’s Table, 9 miles
Back to the Sperrins, to Gortin Glen Forest Park, to check out Robbers Table Loop nearby.

October 2020 – Springwell Forest and Sconce, 8 miles

Adhering to the latest health advice we decided to stay local again in October and revisited Springwell and Sconce.

November 2020 – Campus Trails, 6 miles

Another local walk, this time to the Coleraine campus at Ulster University to check out their new campus trails.

December 2020 – Castlerock to Downhill, 8 miles

Finally to round out the year yet another local walk, we’re so lucky to have such amazing scenery on the doorstep! We walked from Castlerock to Downhill via Mussenden Temple.

So that’s it for 2020, it wasn’t all bad but still glad to say farewell and here’s hoping 2021 will be better and brighter for us all!
